Cho 08-09 PD Abstract

Title: Ruppia maritima restoration using seedlings in Bayou Cumbest, Grand Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, Mississippi
Project Leader: Cho, Hyun Jung

Scientists studied different methods to restore seagrasses using seedlings in Bayou Cumbest, Mississippi. They found that growing seagrass seedlings in peat pots and planting the entire pot in submerged sediment showed the most promise. The peat-pot method had better results than transplanting the wigeon grass (Ruppia martima) using peat pellets or using biodegradable mats.
